Record-Breaking Car Collection Sale

Bernie Ecclestone's entire 69-car collection has been sold in a single, record-breaking transaction. This deal, which happened just months after the collection went on sale, has shattered previous records for multiple car sales.

Iconic Racing History

The 94-year-old's collection includes legendary Formula 1 and Grand Prix cars spanning 70 years. Highlights include Ferraris driven by Michael Schumacher, Niki Lauda, and Mike Hawthorn, as well as Ecclestone's own Brabhams, a Maserati 250F, a 16-cylinder Mark 2 BRM, and the historic Vanwall VW10.

Tom Hartley Jr handled the sale, avoiding traditional auctions due to the high stakes involved. The collection drew global interest, including offers from Sovereign Wealth Funds. Ultimately, Mark Mateschitz, son of Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz, secured the entire collection.

Mark Mateschitz plans to keep the collection together and make it accessible to the public, fulfilling Ecclestone's wish to preserve these historic cars for future generations. The sale figure remains undisclosed, but the collection is valued at around £500 million.

New Era for Collector Cars

This transaction sets a new benchmark for the collector car market, showcasing the enduring value of historic racing vehicles.
